We brought you news a while back that Din Tai Fung is coming to London for what will be the first European outpost of the popular Taiwanese restaurant, famous for their xiaolongbao. After rumours swirling for ages and some confusion about where exactly it was going to open, they’ve finally released more details… and the good news is there’s going to be not one but TWO opening.
The first will be in Covent Garden, an is due to open at the end of the year. It’s going to be walk-ins only but with close to 250 covers you (hopefully) shouldn’t have to queue too long. Apparently, there’s going to be a big open kitchen where you can watch the chefs at work and dumplings steaming away, plus Din Tai Fung’s signature ‘oriental wooden interiors’. And it’s going to be the first ever Din Tai Fung to have a cocktail bar inside, serving Taiwanese-inspired cocktails and Chinese tea.
Then in early 2019, there’ll be another one opening at Centre Point, which is where they were originally due to be opening first. Not long to go now, dumpling fans…
