Christmas shopping to do? Check out these fabulously festive Christmas markets in London, some of which are open until Christmas Day and beyond!
1 Winter Wonderland Angel’s Market
It’s hard to beat Winter Wonderland. Celebrating its 12th year in 2018, this one has everything for the Christmas lover. It’s free to enter the Winter Wonderland site, so you can browse the 200 fairy-lit Bavarian style wooden chalets of the Angel’s Market and pick out gifts for friends and family from jewellery and clothing to handmade crafts and Christmas decorations. Open during the day, but far more impressive at night, you can also buy tickets to ice skate around the pavilion in Hyde Park, gaze upon and all the carnival lights from the giant observation wheel, or check out one of the many new shows, including the Magical Ice Kingdom, Peter Pan on Ice, The Snowman Experience and ice sculpting workshops. Open 10am-10pm from 22 November until 6 January 2019, except Christmas Day.

2 Christmas by the River at London Bridge City
London Bridge City welcomes back the iconic Christmas by the River, with 68 chalet-style stalls selling gifts, food and drink against the beuatiful backdrop of Tower Bridge. Running between the Pier and Tower Bridge, it’s one of London’s most picturesque Christmas markets, with frosted cabins and twinkling fairy lights. As well as a great array of boutique vendors peddling artisan Christmas gifts, there will also be a mouth-watering assemblage of pop-up food and drink stalls to make for an unforgettable festive experience. Throughout December, the market will also host events and workshops to get you set for the holiday season, from food and drink tastings to glittery arts and crafts and storytelling. 3 Christmas in Leicester Square
Leicester Square, London’s home of entertainment since 1670, will be buzzing this yuletide, with a sparkling programme of high energy entertainment and events, as well as a a buzzing European-style Christmas Market. Christmas in Leicester Square will see the central gardens transformed into a festive pop-up market with more than 25 stalls, plus an exhilarating line up of shows all performed in a beautiful 1920s Belgian Spiegeltent, including The Burlesque Carol Concert and a one-off Christmas show by cabaret comedy legends Frisky and Mannish. Running from 9 November to 5 January.
4 Southbank Centre Winter Festival and Christmas Market
The Southbank Centre is going all out this Christmas with a full-on winter festival and Norwegian-themed market. Running from 9 November until 27 December, you can explore the maze of market stalls boasting an array of festive treats, gifts and street food from raclette to bratwurst, burgers and vegan specials. Enjoy mulled wine, quality food and handmade crafts while taking in the sights and sounds of London at wintertime. While you’re there, book yourself into a showing of Circus 1903, an internationally acclaimed turn-of-the-century circus spectacular fresh from the Paris Theatre in Las Vegas. The show includes features life-sized elephants created by War Horse puppeteers, acrobats, contortionists, jugglers, trapeze and high-wire performers (running 19 December-5 January 2019).

5 Crafty Fox Christmas Market
Crafty Fox Market, London’s most-loved creative marketplace, is gathering together an original collection of the UK’s finest designer-makers for a series of three festive markets. There will be two bumper Christmas events at Mercato Metropolitano in Elephant and Castle with 50 designer-makers (3 November and 1 December, both 11am-5pm) and a weekend market at The Department Store in Brixton with 80 talented traders (15-16 December). On offer will be perfectly crafted artwork, ceramics, textiles, accessories, jewellery, children’s items and more, but the Crafty Fox team has picked out a different selection of makers for each market – making each event a special one-off. There’ll be DJs spinning tunes, festive treats to nibble on and, for those keen to get their own Christmas crafts on, a series of creative workshops to get you in a festive state of mind. Free entry.
6 Winterville’s Solo Craft Fair
The Solo Craft Fair takes place in the Idolise Spiegeltent every Saturday and Sunday from 12pm-5pm for the duration of Winterville (15 November until 23 December). Showcasing the best local independent designers selling a range of art, jewellery, ceramics, kids clothing and more, it’s a great place to pick out affordable gifts and accessories, unique crafts, unusual homeware and other Christmas gifts. The marketplace even has its own bar, so you can refuel while you shop. Winterville also has top-notch eats from Street Feast, Christmas classics from Backyard Cinema, UV-powered Plonk Golf, a Roller Disco, ice rink and Crash, a brand-new production from Chivaree Circus. Open Weds-Sun 3pm-10pm and Sat-Sun 10am-10pm. Entry £2-£5.

7 Christmas Wednesdays on Columbia Road
Christmas Wednesdays at Columbia Road are something to behold. Taking place every Wednesday throughout December, the independent shops and artisan makers of one of London’s most famous flower markets come together for Christmas shopping evenings with serious atmosphere. The wonderfully exuberant carol singers from St Peters in Bethnal Green will also be there in full voice, as will local vicar Adam Atkinson, who is famously wheeled down the street on a piano singing carols every year! The street is a treasure trove of more than 60 independent shops offering a diverse and eclectic range of carefully sourced products, from artisan jewellers and booksellers to homewares, children’s shops, perfumery and fashion boutiques, plus an almost Dickensian atmosphere. Shops open from 5pm to 9pm; carols with St Peters are from 6pm to 8pm.

8 Greenwich Market at Christmas
Greenwich Market is great all year round, but with the addition of sparkling Christmas lights, mulled wine, Santa’s grotto and the Late Night Wednesdays Arts & Crafts Gift Market – all set within a World Heritage site – it’s truly magical. Shop for gifts galore at up to 120 stalls with music, mulled wine and street food. It all kicks off on Wednesday 21 November with the annual Lantern Parade and Christmas Lights On, with the procession starting at 4pm in front of the Tourist Information Centre at the ORNC and the big countdown to lights on at 4.45pm and carol singing. Then, shop through to 8pm on Wednesday 28 November and 5, 12 and 19 December, or every Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 5.30pm, with antiques, vintage and collectables on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

9 Love West Dulwich Christmas Fair
The Love West Dulwich Christmas Fair returns on Saturday 24 November. Organised by local residents and businesses, it’s a great community event with a Santa’s grotto, live music, arts and crafts stalls, street food, local beer and wine. There’ll also be plenty to keep the kids happy, including a treasure hunt around the area, the chance to meet Santa – and Miss Christmas – story time, face painting, crafts and cakes. Free entry. 11am-4pm.

10 Love Wimbledon’s Christmas Market on The Piazza
Every weekend from 24 November until 23 December, Wimbledon’s Piazza (near the Odeon) will be transformed into a festive market place featuring over 40 local artisans selling homewares, art, crafts, clothing, accessories, Christmas decorations, stocking fillers and scrumptious cakes and bakes. Pick up your cards, decorations, mince pies and hamper goodies, too, and indulge in mulled wine, juicy bratwurst, Indian cuisine and more while you’re there. Don’t miss the Wimbledon Winter Wonderland on Wimbledon Broadway on Sunday 2 December either, an annual day of festive family fun where the road is pedestrianised for market stalls, street entertainment, festive performances, a brass band, ice carving, children’s rides and a fireworks display at 5.30pm.

11 Pexmas Festive Market
The Pexmas Festive returns to the gorgeous Warwick Gardens in Peckham for its sixth Christmas market on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 December (11am-6pm). Expect mulled wine, street food, good tunes, gifts galore and a Santa’s Grotto. Further details to follow.
