Famous for firsts – and in response to growing consumer demand for ‘experiences’ – Oxford Street will launch Christmas with a brand new, experience-led event of in-store gigs, one-night-only shopping events and dining offers, plus a series of surprise-and-delight moments.

Now in its 59th year of celebrations, Oxford Street will reinvent its traditional outdoor switch-on show, treating shoppers instead to pop up performances from UK artists in select stores – a great way to get around the threat of rain!

‘Oxford Street is internationally renowned for Christmas shopping and this year our brands will be treating shoppers to lots of seasonal “firsts”,’ says Luciana Magliocco, Associate Director at New West End Company, ‘including only-on-Oxford-Street gifts, fabulous festive floors, personalised products, winter pop ups, enhanced services in store and more.’

The lights switch on will mark the start of Oxford Street’s seven-week Christmas is Calling campaign, showcasing the street’s top-notch festive shopping offering which includes exclusive products, enhanced services and seasonal activity.

Oxford Street is Europe’s longest shopping street, with 1.5 miles of shopping running from Marble Arch to Tottenham Court Road and more than 90 flagship stores. Join the conversation @oxfordstreetW1 using the hashtag #ChristmasIsCalling.

The switch on will shortly be followed by Marylebone Village’s annual Christmas Lights Switch On on 14 November. A Merry Marylebone Christmas will see retailers, hoteliers and cultural landmarks come together to celebrate six weeks of festivities. The lights switch on will take place at 6pm, with fun from 3-7pm including Santa’s grotto with real reindeer, traditional fairground rides, live music and fireworks.
