When life gives you lemons, make a hit single.
That’s the gospel according to Ariana Grande anyway, who’s been dropping teasers for a major new music video from her forthcoming album.
Days after announcing her next single, ‘7 Rings,’ the pop singer shared a series of pics and clips from the new music video, due to be released on January 18, and we look like we’re in for some serious tea-spilling on her break-up with ex-fiancé Pete Davidson.
On January 11, the hardest-working woman in pop posted an Instagram showing herself and besties Victoria Monét and Alexa Luria donning hot pink fashion, giving us all the Legally Blonde vibes.
“???????????? of 7,” the 25-year-old singer captioned the sexy shot.
Then, on January 12, Grande treated us to a clip of a group of ladies showing off sparkly rings.
Back in December, Grande took to Twitter to share the backstory behind the new single, after fans spotted a reference to ‘7 Rings’ on the number plate of her car in the ‘Thank U, Next’ music video.
“Well …………. ’twas a pretty rough day in NYC,” she teased. “My friends took me to Tiffany’s. We had too much champagne. I bought us all rings.”
“It was very insane and funny,” Grande continued. “On the way back to the stu njomza was like ‘b***h, this gotta be a song lol.’ So we wrote it that afternoon.”
Grande, who called off her engagement to comedian Pete Davidson last October, is no novice when it comes to taking a relationship break-up and turning it into hit songs, and it looks like the new single could be the mother of all break-up anthems.
In the meantime, we’ll be on standby to unpack every single detail when the music video drops.
