We all know this Christmas is going to be a little different, so whatever you’re planning to eat over the festive period, Real Ale, which specialises in craft beers, natural wines and spirits from small producers, has got a beer to match…
1 Twickenham Brewery’s London Porter 5.3% 500ml
Style: Traditional Porter
Description: Twickenham Brewery is offering up its take on the famous London Porter style. Using a traditional malt dating back to 1817, this delicious dark beer oozes with rich milk chocolate and dried fruits flavours. Its complexity and velvety finish is a proper festive treat! Don’t drink too cold.
Food Match: Game stew with dumplings
2 The Park Brewery’s Spankers Hill IPA 6.0% 440ml
Style: India Pale Ale
Description: Taking its name from a spot almost directly between our store and the brewery, Spankers Hill Wood in Richmond Park, this beer is a favourite among many of our Twickenham branch locals. Using Centennial, Simcoe and Citra hops for a superbly balanced profile of piney, tropical and citrus hop flavours.
Food Match: Venison sausages and mash
3 Siren Crafts’ Broken Dream Breakfast Stout 6.5% 330ml
Style: Chocolate and coffee stout
Description: Champion Beer Of Britain Winner 2018, Siren’s luxurious breakfast stout combines everything good about dark beer. Roasted malts, unctuous texture, creamy milk sugar and bitter coffee.
Food Match: Chocolate fudge cake
4 Huyge Brewery’s Delirium Christmas 10% 330ml
Style: Bière de Noël
Description: A full bodied, spicy, warming and rich beer. Pouring a chestnut amber colour, with all of the classic Belgian bubblegummy yeast aroma, a charming spiciness and certainly a very punchy ABV! Works well with spicy lamb dishes. Can be also a joyous after-dinner sipper.
Food Match: Vegan moussaka
5 Brasserie Dupont’s Saison Dupont
Style: Belgian Saison
Description: If you want a truly classic Belgian ale, this is what we deem as the pinnacle. Showcasing all of the famous Dupont yeast character. Full of Belgian esters – clove, white pepper, nutmeg and warming farmhouse character. This is a traditional, timeless beer.
Food Match: Moules frites or a cheese board
6 Villages Brewing’s Rafiki
Style: Session IPA
Description: One of our favourite London breweries, Villages Brewing produces an outstanding selection of core beers that do not skimp on quality. Their session IPA is very easy drinking, crisp and refreshing as you like with a balanced range of juicy and tropical hops with a hint of fresh apples and citrus peel.
Food Match: Christmas roast bird with all the trimmings
